Loosing the ability to stand easily and without requiring assistance can be a very big life changing event. It can mean having to hire someone to help you or requiring more assistance from your support network of family and friends. In both cases this can cause strain, so a lot of individuals use lift chairs.
A lift chair allows a person to independently stand at the push of a button. It is in many ways similar to having someone always there with a ready arm to help you stand. This makes a big difference, because not being able to stand can put a very real weight on your shoulders and this is a medical device that greatly improves the task of standing up.
In addition to making it easier to get up without assistance, lift chairs also offer much of the same functionality a regular recliner does. Most of the times, they are more comfortable and easier to use then a regular recliner. One of the things that makes them easier to use is the fact that the chairs backrest and footrest are controlled electronically by a simple hand control. This makes the chair much more customizable than a regular sitting chair and can help reduce back strain.
