After many years of struggling to stand or sit, lift chairs were developed to help with this process. For people who suffer from arthritis, osteoporosis, muscular diseases, back problems, or other mobility related problems, your living room chair can often seem to engulf you and can be very difficult to get out of. If you have difficulty standing or sitting than you will likely greatly benefit from a lift chair.
Lift chair are recliners that feature a rising base that makes it much easier to stand without any outside assistance. When the base is fully raised it is possible to make the transition from standing or sitting without help and without fear of falling. There are many types available and it is very important to find one that will fit your body and needs.
Your height and weight are probably the most important factor to consider when purchasing a lift chair. There are many different sizes available, but if you get one that is too small or too large, then you can risk injury or may cause your chair to malfunction. Always honestly evaluate your weight and any expected weight growth when purchasing your chair. Also consider the width and length of the seat to ensure that you will be comfortable while sitting.
The type of fabric is also an important consideration. This is both from a overall design standpoint, but can also provide added functionality. There are several fabrics available that are highly resistant to stain. One type of fabric, Brissa, stands out amongst the rest as being able to withstand even the most hard to get out stains. It is possible to wipe away blood with only a little bit of soapy water and a rag, without any scrubbing. It is also very breathable which can increase comfort.
When buying a lift chair it is important to consider your body or that of the person who will be using it. It is possible to find a design that will fit your living room very nicely with ease, so this should come second to finding one to fit your body.
